The O/P problem is not specific to a brand or type of GPS. Turning off a road into a parking lot and stopping will often confuse the GPS as it relates to its orientation, in other words which direction its headed. Moving a few feet in the direction you need to go seems to correct the problem in a few seconds. {{{recalculating!}}}

I am going to interject here... The "Address" is normally a Lat/Long which can be adjusted in the POI database. Aiming for the fuel island Lat/Long is the best solution.
As far as "getting lost" in a truck stop, the truck stop is not legally a paved road in the map database. It normally is a big lot which when you start to move the GPS will sense the Lat/Long and the direction you are moving. It then "jumps" to the true paved road and based upon your direction it will route you on that direction. Then once you are on a true paved road it will calculate and give you your route. So sometimes you have to pay attention to the direction you want and actually go the way you want for the correct route.Friend, TB John and archangelic peon Thank this. -
Garmin outsources their maps. Call customer service and they will email you a report form to send to the company that does the maps. I wonder how they got this job with so many truck error routes.

My 770 just stopped displaying. It's still on though and giving oral directions. My traffic says now I have the wrong lower cord, but it has been working for months, although not all the time. The maps are not good, and will put you on two lane roads when the interstate would be as fast if not faster. I do not have shortest distance checked. It put me on a roundabout in Lebanon, Tennessee once. I have filed several error reports. Anyone else have display problems?

Just got off the phone with Garmin. I was pleasantly surprised. I was passed to a customer service specialist for the 770. He said you can now call direct and talk to a product export, and they want to help. Will even take error reports. 800 800 1020 and select the DEZL option.

I've had several friends who got pissed off at Rand McNally and switched to the Garmins, but they all switched back in time to Rand Mcnally eventually because of various quirks.
