No. Fitness to operate a CMV and how much it should cost to get a CDL are really not proportional to one another. I know several people today that could walk into a bank and withdrawal that kind of money today. However not a single one would I trust to operate an 80,000 pound vehicle. The largest problem with these kinds of costs is a lot of good otherwise qualified people can't afford it and are priced out of it right from the start. This is a very complicated subject and not one that can be summarized in a few words.

 

The school isn’t the problem. They can’t teach you real world backing. Time with a trainer can however.
You could also get out of your truck and give the new guys a hand.
You never know, but you could be the one person who has the correct advice to make it all click for the new guy.
