Failure to secure load on tow truck should have been citation. The article says the 18 wheeler flipped over. More likely just lost the front axle with a jack knife.

Looks like a front end failure with heavy trailer stopping slower than tractor,to have a object jump that wall and strike you at speed would be bad, probably didn't know what hit until after sliding to a stop and climbing out and looking.

I was coming out of Gary at mile 5 west bound soon after. Hour and a half to cover 2 miles. And there was another wreck on the eastbound side around mile 2. Total mess.

80/94 is always a madhouse and you CONSTANTLY have to be on your guard. Every time I pass through on the highway going between Illinois and Indiana semis always want to herd together in the hammer lanes! I always avoid that mess by taking the outside lanes in getting out of there as quickly as possible!
drvrtech77 and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -
Some dude had a super single grenade on 5 a few days ago. Almost the whole thing dead center of the travel lane.
Fortunately it was near an on ramp, so I went into the gore, and the ramp and went around it at speed.
What if you hit one of those? Your front end, oil pan get WHACKED bad.drvrtech77 and mjd4277 Thank this.
