Talking about battle scars there is an old Sam Elliot western where a young boy ask him Mr. Who gave you that shiner?
Nobody son I fought for it

“Don’t say it’s a fine morning or I’ll shoot ya!” - George Washington Mclintock

Since rebuilding this sucker last June I’ve lost 3 thermostats to the rubber seals being pushed out of them, two heater valves to the plastic ball valve going bad, 2 radiator hoses and 1 radiator cap.

I’ve suspected diesel in the water for a while now but the other day she finally showed me by pushing water out the overflow while I was unloading. Unmistakable diesel smell.

Tore the top end apart yesterday. Number 4 injector cup is the one. Looks like I’ll be making the trip to OKC come Monday.

My grandpa had an old F100 like that. Original powertrain too with the 3 on the tree. As an 8 year old that was the coolest truck ever. Went with him in it any chance I got. He sold it probably 18 years ago when he started to downsize.

He has another jewel tucked away in a controlled climate garage.... I was 18 last time we worked on it. Super nice 67 GTO.

That is sharp!!! I completely understand the 30 year nap situation. I tore the motor down in '91 and started to restore it back then, then things came to a screeching halt, where they still are. :(
