Ok here goes my question for all you good folks out there cause i can not find anything on the net about it so i figure here first then on to a lawyer and find out. I am going to be coming home soon and i will buy a single axle semi to pull my 5th wheel travel trailer with no problem there i know the answer to that one no need for any thing label it private coach and go for it. Now here is where it gets sticky. While we are set up and my wife works where ever she is i am going to try and do some tow away work just out and back and nothing really heavy but maybe move some other RV's around for folks and stuff. Now i know i can allways boot leg the stuff as my own and go that way and even have a bill of sale and all but if i want to do it the right way and get my authority which i would like to do. How would one do that basily pay the 5th wheel tax any way every year and register the truck twice once under your name as a RV and the other under the company name and carry 2 sets of tags and a magnetic set of signs. I am not sure how that would go. The other thing is the insurance because i am going to have to carry regular vehicle liability on the truck to cover my RV when its hooked up to the tow vehicle. it is going to be interesting to say the least. Any advice and help as to where to look for answers would be good.

If you are going to use the truck commercially at all just have commercial registration with authority and insurance . There is no point getting private insurance . The insurance company would cancel it as soon as they found the truck was being used commercially .
kd5drx and The Challenger Thank this. -
as little as they are paying to move RVs, I would use it privately and do something else on your own time. Why tear up your truck at someone else expense.

KD you are going to run into such a nightmare going about things that way. If you want to be able to work the truck on your off times then start out with it as a commercial vehicle and roll. If you are touring the country as an RVer you won't have HOS issues, you probably will not drive enough hrs a day to have that come into play. The biggest pain would be going thru the scales that are open.
I seriously doubt you can double register and insure a vehicle like that.kd5drx Thanks this. -
Thanks for the input and you know you might be right i may just keep the pick up and that way we don't have a secound vehicle to worry about and just get me a little odd job where ever we are for a few weeks to fil in my time while she works or who knows i may just ride the Harley and be a go get her. you know take her to work and the go and get her when she gets off. Never tryed a house hubby before it may be all right.

They will not let you double register a vehicle because each registration would void the previous and when the person uses a plate for a previous registration when run it would come back as an invalid plate due to the last registration.
If they have an invalid plate on a vehicle #1 you will get a ticket #2 possible tow all equals to alot of costs.
If you transport rv's with bills of sale that can be looked upon like fraud since you have no intention of purchasing the rv and if your insurance company finds out you could have trouble there.

I knew it i knew it they are here to not just on the road Trucking lawyers i thank you for your opinion the same as was allready hashed out several times but again i thank you. But just for your info i can and do double register vehicles all the time in OK since the Cherokee Nation is a soverign Govt we can and do register our vehicles threw them and there for they are in fact dual registered to the Nation and to the person so they will allways show dual registered.

Thanks for the reply but i have a lawyer hired to do all the legal stuff have had for years and he has kept me out of trouble a ton for allot of things. Just kind of like to hear the different opinions some times. He has al ready looked at it and told me what the cost will be to do it any one of several ways and actually it will be best to have my wife incorperate since she is A. A women and B. Full blood Cherokee. so we would get all kinds of tax breaks as well as we would have several different privlages if you will when it comes to getting certain govt. contracts so thats probably the way we will go when it comes time to do it.
