Volvo’s mindset

Are they saying most people have to get drunk to drive a new Volvo?

 

Company must have some real trust in its drivers........

It's true, if we wanted to eliminate drinking and driving, these devices + a government mandate every vehicle sold after date x, no matter commercial or personal, will have the device. Sales would suffer initially, eventually it's standard procedure and not a taboo thing. It would likely go the same path as the elog went. You don't use one? Must be a cheater. Argument. Logical isn't it?

 

problem is, what if a driver has just used mouthwash (which many do contain alcohol) and blows a positive ??

how long till the truck starts up or how long before that device sends a clear message to dispatch that the driver is drunk???

or calls the cops...??

or the marshalls..?????........

 

The driver does it once and buys a new type mouth wash that doesn't use alcohol as the active ingredient
I'm sure there are other solutions

 

Volvo option for Europe? Or just Ireland?

Owner gets a big discount on his insurance.
So it is simply about the $$$$.
