That's correct, I've tried to pass and could not so I had to back down.

If I’m getting passed (very rare...), and there’s any cars stuck behind the passer then I’ll slow down a little to let him get past around. Because I’m not a self centered dick, and I’ve been on all sides of that scenario.

Guy on the FAR right - completely reckless passing on the shoulder. All them stones and garbage he is kicking up to the cars behind. Not to mention how tight it was and if he hit any of the road signs.

Guy on the left - Why is he even trying to pass another Swift? Maybe we are not seeing everything (maybe the Swift in the right is heavier, going up a hill?). At the end of the day why didn't he back off, the guy on the right SHOULDN'T have to back off.

Guy on the right lane - Sure he should have backed off a little to allow Swift to finally pass. By him not doing it doesn't make him a dick tho. He was on the right lane doing his thing, and he wasn't the one trying to pass. Sure with cars around maybe he should have been the bigger person, but at the end of the day he was the most innocent out of all these guys.

The one thing that surprises me and is in the very least a positive thing. Even tho the guy not he shoulder is a complete dick for doing what he did. Some good came from him. I figured he would have passed and kept on going. At least he did the right thing and slowed down the other truck so that the swift could get through thus allowing the cars to pass.

if im in the right lane in that situation i let off, does me no good to debate that the trk in left lane shouldnt pass, hes already there, the question is who gonna be the bigger man, just accept that drivers arent that bright and get out of the situation.

We've all been frustrated and wanted to try what the guy on the shoulder did, but common sense usually kicks in and calmer heads prevail. We're not seeing what led up to this mess, but obviously Swift in the right lane at one point was going slower than Swift in the left lane, and he decided to try and pass and somebody didn't like it. In my opinion right hand Swift is a moron and should back off and let others around him. Unfortunately drivers like him simply don't care, and Swift drivers aren't the only ones I see doing this very frequently.

Some states (like Arizona and New Mexico) will issue tickets to truck drivers sitting in the left lane too long. It's called impeding the flow of traffic.
