You need to remember, their engineers and designers have never driven a truck, much less for a living.

The Volvo dash board is the same from 1982.

 

Who cares? It's functional.You never drove a truck ,you get into Volvo and you know what's where which is not the case with American trucks.
I drove few Peterbilts lately and wondered what their designers had in mind when they for instance put a treshhold across the cab (great for tripping over it) or designed split side windows. The small one gets dirty and you can't see #### in the mirror.And don't even make me start talking about wipers in those things.
Yeah,Volvo isn't sexy but it's the best designed truck you can buy.Period!

It’s called a vent window. One of the most functional things on a truck or car(if you know how to use it). The reason most car and truck makers removed it was to save money.

 

Please do tell how you use vent window that doesn't open?
