As someone that prefers function over form, I prefer not to ridiculously over-purchase for my needs, in good, excessive, American, fashion.

While I absolutely do not support forcing anyone to live the way I do, I do not understand those that dismiss any attempt to improve efficiency, or reduce dependence on petroleum.

Yea and if you live in a bigger city I could see how owning an electric car makes sense but out here in the middle of nowhere and the house is down 6 miles of gravel car tires just don't hold up and i dont see the rest of the car putting up with ot either

They’re significantly more reliable at higher mileages than anything else on the road.

The early models have had the test of a few years now, and use in hard conditions has fairly well ascertained they’re longevity and sustainability.

Put half a million miles on anything else, and have your biggest concern be that your CV axles are showing some signs of wear...

There are a couple Tesla cars where I live. They're nice but not my cup of tea. I wonder how much driving range is lost when you need to run the heater full bore because its -35 here all winter long?

    I dunno.

Might have to go ask someone in Norway, considering Tesla’s popularity there.

I wouldn't bet against Tesla. Mr Musk knows where Tesla's funds are really coming from. The Chinese, duly borrowed by the US Government and backed by all us suckers who pay taxes... and our children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, etc.

    Is Tesla profitable? Serious question.

No, they are a long way from making money. They just have the "story" at the moment.
