JB Hunt - Lowell, Ar.

Mack, we are in agreement on that point, and you describe it for exactly what it is. It's stupidity.

When I read something like that, I thank God for the company that I work for, and the fact that they give us the freedom and trust that they do. They hire adults, and they treat us like adults.

There is only one circumstance where I am not allowed to bobtail my truck, if I need to while at the terminal. That will be while they have it on the service rack. Gee...what will I do? Use one of the slip seat trucks that is on the lot and not under dispatch at the moment. I simply ask for a truck number and I'm on my way.

 

Posturing by promoting the 'politically correct' obfuscation of true issues doesn't serve to engender self respect or credibility. Using descriptively accurate language doesn't promote 'hate' or 'ignorance' when reporting descriptively accurate events.

Don't be too quick to 'pat yourselves on the back'.

 

I started my driving career with JBHunt back in 1994,when the Hunts still ran the company.But when they retired,and the two yahoo`s that`s in charge took over,the company went down hill.The Hunts really tried to treat the drivers/employees good.Now big business has taken over(like so many other companies)and their attitude is ,if you don`t like it,leave.We can find someone else to take your place.

I believe that Ms. Jonelle Hunt still sits on the Board of Directors for JB Hunt. Also, I believe JB Hunt "himself" has retired and enjoying life. Also, with regard to the "make-a-buck-at-all-costs" type of company that JB Hunt has become, I can only say: What do you expect when you have a former acccountant (Kirk Thompson, President) running the JB Hunt company? I believe the JB Hunt company executives and managers have taken on a lot of unsavory business practices common to their Bentonville, AR neighbor. In other words, "hell with the employees, full steam ahead to gross investor dividends and JB Hunt executive bonuses". Last, I have watched JB Hunt's "Wall Street" insider trading practices regarding their stock bonuses to executives and upper management employees, sad, sad, sad...possibly the SEC would be interested in their "unique brand" of financial and fiduciary practices.

 

I still laugh when I recall the new hire 'orientation' where we were advised we would do well to hire a financial advisor to help us manage our 'new found wealth' we were about to acquire....wondering if they did the same at Swifty, Schneider, etc... I attended two such 'events'; first in ATL and the second in Lowell where J.B. spoke to us... reminded me of 'Boss Hogg'....this was back in 1987.

 

I grew up in easter OK and have heard bad things about JBH for years and years. I tell everyone that I come in contact with know your trucking company do not believe the recruiters because they lie. Have them put it in writing and have them sign it. If it is not in writing you can't prove it.

I think JBH could be a great company if management could get their head out of their *** long enough to smell the roses. A good trucking company doesn't just happen. The trucking company administrators must work at it every day. They must treat each and every driver with the respect that they deserve.

If they do not treat ther personal with respect the company is nothing more than a want a be.
Just think JBH could be a fantastical great company, but I doubt it every will achieve that distinction. Maybe JBH top people should take a class on employee management. I believe most of them are basically sadistic people that enjoy showing everyone around them who the boss is. That is why they do mean and bad things to their own drivers.

 

I worked for JBH for 9yrs until I had all the dung that I could handle.Gone are the days of advancement for the drivers.They rather hire college grads with degrees in underwater basket weeving to be dispatchers instead of people that know what life on the road is.As I said once earlier in a post,the company used to be great when JB,his wife Jonell(think that`s how you spell it)and son Bryant had a hand in everyday operations.But since Thompson and Garrison took control,it`s just not a freindly place to work,unless you like backstabbing.

 

I believe J.B. Hunt (the man) was probably a "so-so" well intentioned businessman, however, he and Jonelle did not treat their employees with the respect they deserved and encouraged an in-fighting "winner take all attitude" among managers. J.B. and Jonelle tended to gather around them "yes men and women" that fought each other and vied for position and favor. These "yes men and women" are now in-charge of the JB Hunt corporation and have brought along with them their general disregard and contempt for ordinary workers within the company (especially their drivers). I believe that JB Hunt's Bentonville neighbor also influenced the employee policy decisions of the JB Hunt corporation executives and further allienated the management/executive level employees from the "working man and woman" on the "front lines" of the company. The result has been a general breakdown of common respect, ethical norms and honesty within the middle and upper management at the JB Hunt corporation. I believe we will all live to see the day when the "stars" fall from the sky and the JB Hunt corporation crashes upon hard times (in a similar way as their Bentonville neighbor has recently, regarding Bentonville's current problems with public relations and employee discrimination/wage-hour litigation).

There is a systemic problem at JB Hunt regarding their middle and upper management. This group of individuals, on the whole, does not respect the professional drivers that are on the front lines of the business each day. It is my opinion that JB Hunt managers constantly treat drivers poorly, lie and cheat them. This group seems to consider professional drivers a "sub-human" form of life. This attitude and corporate culture can only exist because it is allowed to and even encouraged by upper management and the JB Hunt corporate directors. I feel that the entire corporate JB Hunt organization at Lowell is rotten to the core. There is no salvage for a rotten apple once the majority has gone bad. Best throw it out. In the case of JB Hunt, the company can only be truly changed and salvaged by purging and replacing the corporate leadership.
