    Thanks austinmike,

I'm worried about under thinking it and being stuck in a situation where I fail. I keep seeing that 160 hours thing a lot when looking at schools, so that must be a norm. I'll also have to get enough cash together to support myself for a month for training. That was not something I thought about before.

    austinmike Thanks this.

Some companies will hire newbis because they are cheap to hire. They are cheap to hire because of their lack of experience. Companies that hire newbies generally don't pay experienced drivers much more. Experienced drives see newbies in the oilfield as a danger. An example would be Stevens Transport.

Companies with new equipment will find it hard to make you run illegal with the ELDs.

Dave_in_AZ does your rig have a hole in the seat going right through the floor?

I was going to be living out of my truck anyway. Will some of these companies not hire me if I'm not based in their state? I'm confused. I thought I could run out of any state no matter what my CDL state.

You can be based anywhere, just don't let them know that you don't actually live in that state.

You can run anywhere in the 49 states.....50 if you have pontoons.
Companies want to know where you're domiciled to see how big of a pain in the ### it is to get you home. That's all

    Brickwall and austinmike Thank this.
