Just started Day 1 of school with Millis Transfer, at the Eden NC hub. I gotta say, if the days to come are gonna be anything like day 1, this is gonna be an awesome experience and I can't wait to get out on the road!
What a great company and they are really taking care of the 6 of us (students) and treating us like we are already drivers for the company.
I see great things in my future with Millis Transfer.

That’s great things are going good. And a positive outlook goes a long way in trucking. It’s super easy to talk down about almost everything. A lot of good threads on here about Millis and a lot of good things to say about them. I’d say you picked a good’n. Best of luck!

Did the Millis 500 today, and it's the first time I've ever driven a big rig. I was nervous as hell, but learned quickly that it's not as hard as I made it in my head, as long as I don't over think it. Was really worried about the double clutching and down shifting, but as I did it more and more, it got really easy and before I knew it I was moving around the lot pretty good.
Tomorrow is Day 4 and we are going to be doing Pre-Trip and then driving with a trailer around the lot and working on some backing.Luvtodrive, kwan2323, coastietruckin' and 2 others Thank this. -

Day 1 of week 2.
Got a taste of backing maneuvers last Thursday and Friday and today I got to practice all day at getting them wrong.
Driving a big rig in reverse is a pain in the ### and nothing like my truck. I'm getting the hang of it though, and I've kind of gotten them down to where I only have to pull forward once or twice.
I think the 90* dock is my favorite. It's amazing to me, how a 72' truck, parked at a 90* angle can somehow find it's way into a 12' wide space, all thanks to my semi stellar backing ability. This #### is exhausting, but I'm really starting to like it.
Hopefully, we go to Wisconsin next week. Kinda looking forward to getting out on the road and turning the wheels on something other than the practice lot, but I don't want it to happen too fast because I still need a lot of practice. -
I’ll be down there Wednesday to test out, I’ll see if I can catch up with you
