BENTONVILLE CLASSIFIED Wanted, some one to feel important about themselves and stare at a video screen watching truck drivers at work, hoping to catch them doing something wrong. No education or experience in traffic safty required. Bonus for flaging and reporting violaters. Great benefits and top pay for the motivated, go getter gung/hi types! 1800walmart
drvrtech77 and DSK333 Thank this. -
I keep some fruit bars, and snacks within reach. I have had safety ride alongs and eaten an apple en route back to the DC. So did Marty.
Guess I'll just stick with no it is not. Now if you get a 2 lb. pulled pork sandwich and are observed trying to eat in while maintaining your lane unsuccessfully, yes you will be held accountable. Probably a coaching, maybe a step if you try and lie. Neither is a termination.joshuapowell61 and Coover Thank this. -
Problem is with these cameras is if/when the plantiff's attorneys can find fault anything at all it's going to be you who pays the price. You seriously think Walmart will fall on the sword for you? Cameras are there to play the blame game pure and simple. Who's always to blame 99 percent of the time no matter what for everything anyway? The lowly driver.

I had a Spanish driver hit and run through my steer on I65 south in Birmingham. There was never a second of hesitation from anyone in the company I was golden. Bailey backed me 100% even though all I had was a story of how half my front bumper was FUBAR.
And then I showed them the pictures.
Maybe you should work for a better company -
I heard that cameras 2.0 are going to have facial recognition skills. This will include ability to detect: inattention, fatigue, sadness. suicidal ideology. Driver monitors will immediately be contacted. They will have training on what to do.
-
The cameras have that ability now if it is turned on. They can even recognize speed limit signs, blown red lights, and alert the company. Hell Martin Bower has theirs set to pop safety if you drink anything but a small plastic bottle of water according to a driver I talked to when they were talking about them here.

Overeating could cause a road-side diabetes check. Swearing or saying off color stuff could alert HR.

Part of the apprehension here about the outboard cameras is sound. We have been warned that calling some one a racial slur will be grounds for coaching, but the swear words when an accident happens will mot.
I was backed into one night by a fly by night O/O and turned my dash cam over so they could find the prick. I warned them to turn it down but never heard a word. Never said anything racial. A few F bomb, questioned his mother's preference of breed, offered to pull his spleen through his ###......
No coaching so I hope they hold to that. -
Voice recognition is pretty advanced now. It’s like having “Alexa” or “Siri” on board quietly reporting back to Operations what topics you like to speak about..
06driver Thanks this.
