SAP isn't a problem, it is the revolving door which has been created with the help of the drivers themselves who don't take the work serious, it is just a job to them and there is no interest in it becoming a professional and just collect a paycheck.

If these other companies really want drivers, get rid of the year of experience required. I realize it is a insurance night mare of sorts. Yet I still think if some one did lower the bar on the requirement they wouldnt have the problem of finding drivers.

Snark! I hope. I gotta think 99% of noobz don't make it a year. Better would be to limit speeds by experience. 60 to start then increase in some unintelligible pythagorean rhythm by monitoring. Ya know, crashes, tickets, etc. Most of the truck drivers I see anymore couldn't ride a tricycle in an abandoned parking lot. BTW, you gotta back up every once in a while. SMH! Bet Tom Brady'd be an AWESOME truck driver. Lucky for him he can throw the hog.

The CPI rate from 1983 to 2018 is 150%. .23 in today's dollars is .58 to make it the same pay.

I think its more than just not taking it seriously. Many new drivers came in with expectations that came from misguided delusions about a glamorized industry.

I'll use my wife as an example. Not a driver,.. but if we give pause to the mind set she had when she first came out with me. I believe we can get a better understanding of why some people are drawn to trucking, just to end up disappointed and let down. Not understanding the full scope of their plight,.. they job hop seeking to find what is simply not there.

My wife was all too eager and excited to come out with me. She would see things and want to stop in just about everywhere. This is where I believe many people honestly believe trucking life is like an RV lifestyle. The first time we drove through Vegas my wife was almost in tears as I pointed in the mirror for her to look at what was on the trailer. This is a job. I'm providing a service. That load needs to be at the receiver tomorrow morning. We do not have time to stop for anything. Take a picture. It will last longer. That did not sit well with her. As the reality of what and how trucking really is began to slowly take shape for her. The excitement and glamour disappeared as it became replaced with disgust, frustration and one big let down.

Those who do not have a good work ethic are the ones who generally do not make it in trucking at all. Many honestly believe the answer to get their dream back is to become an O/O. Then they can make more money, be home when ever they want. Stop and see the sights when ever they want. Do what ever they want. And when the cold hard reality of how much more work and the difficulty of being an O/O sets in,.. that too becomes one more straw that breaks the camels back.

You either love to drive and love trucks and understand that this is a job as well as a lifestyle change,.. or you dont and you get dragged down a rabbit hole of epic proportions.
