What did you do for references when brand new as in never hauled a load under your own authority?

You don't need to provide references to all of the brokers. So by the time you get the packet asking for references, you probably would already haul those 3 loads.

Can be any business you work with. Fuel supplier, mechanic or tire merchandiser.

When you guys take on a direct customer, even off a load board, like a shipper with no mc number etc, how do you go about setting up that relationship?
I’m guessing I would give them my insurance cert, authority cert, company info and where to remit to. - But what should I ask from them in particular? ... I know I’d need to draw a rate sheet for each load, stating who’s responsible for what, if they didn’t have oneLast edited: Mar 30, 2018

I send insurance,w9, authority. Rate agreement. Includes parameters for detention. Timetable for payment. Loading and delivery times/locations and commodity.
Research them. BBB, local business chamber of commerce. National collection agencies.
Good luck.HopeOverMope Thanks this. -
I’d be interested in seeing an example of what you guys send the broker/shipper. I’d like to not look like a fool when going after my first few loads.

Good thread, I am about to start working with my new authority, probably next week when ifta stickers come on the mail. I won’t do factoring, I figure if I need it I can always get it later.
Anybody have any updates/tips running under their own authority?
Thank you. -
Forget factoring. Educate yourself on quick pay.

I will, seems like a lot less hassle than factoring.
Thank you
