I only have 11 mos. experience. I was terminated for violating company policy on log violations. Was never put out of service. It was company policy only not D.O.T.
I have a clean driving record, no tickets, accidents or points. No arrest record, no DUI's. I'm in excellent health and physically fit.
Am I totally screwed from an O.T.R. job? I called a few places and they said I can't be hired until I have at least 6 mos O.T.R. with another company. Kind of Catch 22.
I would appreciate any advice.

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.
Fired for violating company policy on logs.

Did you read the fine print on the contract before you signed on the dotted line?
I sign contracts almost on a daily basis and if I don't understand a term or a passage, I call the shipper or the broker to make sure we are absolutely clear on any definition or requirement.
Try a smaller carrier who needs to have a dependable driver in your area.
Or try a contractor, depending on your CDL endorsements, You can drive a dump, tanker, low-bed, ect.... -
Totally Screwed from another OTR job? Not at all.
You might just have to look harder, and even try smaller companies.
I am assuming from your post that you had been ticketed multiple times for "log-book" violations. I wouldn't think that a driver with only 11 months experience getting non OOS log-book violations would be a big deal. When you apply for a new job, try explaining that the tickets were "clerical" in nature because of your experience. -
I'm a trucking noob and have worked real hard to do a legal job on my logbook. I still make mistakes but have corrected them all. I'm careful to run legal hr's do the math right and flag all stops, changes of status, pti's ect. what other gotcha's are common that will lead to violations?

with 11 months seems some of the starter companies would hire you unless you did something realy bad and got a messed up dac

If you have the type of logs I have with the daily pre-trip, be sure to sign down below showing either no deficiencies or deficiencies. Otherwise, an astute Bear will get ya.....

sound like from his post his experince is local driving as the company's want 6 months otr experince.
I can also assume that the company has sat him down and counsled him about his logs because most companies will not just fire him over logbook errors unless they have sat him down and talked with him about it a couple of times. -
Some companies will wonder if they used the log book violation as an excuse but actually fired him for other reasons .

Go to Swift they'll take anyone.
1pissedoffdriver Thanks this. -
I would try the following if your old company doesn't use DAC:
Swift
Star Transport
HO Wolding
Heartland Express
KH
