Rand McNally Support Thread. (Part 3)

Heck,my 730's haven't had a full map update a lot longer than that.Guess RM wants us to buy the new tablets to get the latest updates but I'm not interested until they come out with something that's not full of bugs and is geared specifically to trucks and is of better quality than the crap they have been putting out lately.

 

Mark, or anyone who might know, my tnd updated here recently. Update went fine but now when I plan a route it won't tell me about tolls. It used to notify about the route having tolls and estimated cost. Now all it does is the 5 mile heads up. Is this something new or a setting I can find to change?

 

Does it show the new I-22 interchange on I-65 just north of the Flying J in Birmingham?

 

I spoke with him about a month ago but haven’t heard from him since. Hope he is ok.

I just bought a new 740.
Does the magnetic base charge the unit?
There is no lightning bolt unless I plug directly to the unit.

 

There is a charging cable you plug into the magnetic mount When the 740 is on the mount it's charging. Don't need to plug anything into the 740 itself.

 

That’s what I did, but it’s not charging on the mount.
I’ll return it for another one, if that doesn’t work it’ll be the Garmin

 

Mark has not been on here for over a month now, and it seems all the help and support for any of the units has pretty much gone to hell. Not sure what is going on with him, hope he is OK, but it also seems like RM is having its own set of issues. On here and a few other places i have heard nothing but issues with pretty much all the units, form the 540 up to the tab 8, updates, missing info, etc.
and now its the end of the quarter , again, and no way to get the fuel and mileage info off the 740 and convert it. RM was supposed to come out with a user friendly app to let us do the conversions, well that fell flat too.... I'm losing a lot of faith in RM.

 

Anyone know how to either update the map on the Tablet or check to see if I do have the most current one?

 

Tablet updates are over wifi. You connect to a network and if there is an update, up in the top left corner, it should pop up a tiny RM icon. Drag down from top and it will show the info.
