Looks like a good idea, just question if it is practical on a truck. Conditions out in the real world are far different from the development lab. Wear points could be a problem,
winches

Spyder, I priced them just for fun and your right....A little pricey
They were about $100 a piece if I remember right. Winter was one of the things one of my friends was saying too. Between salt and corrosion and the ice getting on them, might be a pain.Hurst, SAR and spyder7723 Thank this. -

100 bucks a piece. So much for the 'significant financial savings' they claim.snowman_w900 Thanks this.

why dont you see more of the 3 bar sliding winches on trailers seem most have just the single slot pain i agree is it a cost thing
-
What’s the price difference between that style winch and the regular kindSAR Thanks this.

Most I've ever used in three years was 24 straps on a 53' high boy. You should be good with 20 and 4-6 portables.
cke, Diesel Dave and SAR Thank this. -
Thats exactly what I was thinking.
I was thinking yeah.. 1 or 2 seasons in the salt and grime,.. frozen and binding internals.
Plus I did not check into it,.. but I'm guessing thats pricey.
I prefer the keep it simple approach,.. oh,.. and affordable.
Hurstspyder7723 and cke Thank this. -
A link provided above went to a vendor seeking them for 80 or 90 bucks(i forgot which) a piece. I'll stick to my cheap old design winches and leave these for the "new generation" trucker.

I'm fine with my cheap little 2 bars. I have a home made wind up tool and when I get old and really lazy,.. I might invest in one of those ratcheting cheater bars.
Hurstcke and spyder7723 Thank this.
