One way or another you are paying, period. Many times you are paying MUCH more than if you had just paid yourself.
Most people pay dearly by making garbage pay in their first year.
Do these trucking companies that off "free" CDL training, still charge you?

These people are wrong. If you don't pass your CDL test (with company training) you don't owe them money. Contract law stipulates that in order for a contract to be valid both sides have have to hold up their end of the bargain. If you don't get a CDL you have gotten nothing from the company, so you owe nothing, period.

We are talking about no credit check in house financing promissory notes with no interest rate. Do you think a "loan" like that could result in a judgement and ultimately garnish wages or even show up on a credit check? I don't know for sure, but I seriously doubt it.
Far as someone suggesting that no one fails and these schools just pass everyone is just wrong. You do tend to get second chances but not thirds. How do I know? I'm right up in it as we speak and a watching people drop like flies asking the same questions. If I failed parallel parking, do I HAVE to pay all this back, up to 5k? Will it ruin my credit, can my wages get garnished? This jis of this thread is probably the best reason to exhaust every option to get the CDL through a state sponsored program, community college, grant, etc. Company sponsored should be a last resort, IMO. In hindsight, LOL. -
