If they are successful and increase membership and maybe get more of the trucking companies into the program, can you imagine the cost increases passed on?

But it's other people's money...why should the Teamsters care?......

I was just wondering if the pro unions had really thought this all out or not.

Actually, you've got this wrong. The work day (if you want to call it that) in the U.S. is unlimited, unlike the 16-hour "work shift" in Canada. Assuming a driver has driven their 11 (in 14), they may then work as long as they like ... 40 hours if they could. They only need to have a 10-hour rest and available hours in their 60 or 70 in order to drive again.
Due to this 16-hour work shift, and the forced 36-hour reset, the working hours in Canada are more restrictive than those in the U.S. However, we may drive longer--13 hours (15 north of 60)--and our split-break provision is more generous. -
Not entirely true. Theory is though. If they exceed the 14 hour rule, they can indeed continue to work not driving. However, they could in fact use up valuable driving time this way by using up the 60/70 hours.

There ... happy now?
A driver could work 100 hours straight if they wanted to, and yes, they would obviously have to have a 34-hour reset in order to have any driving hours available if they did as that specific amount of time worked would exceed their 60/70. Of course I did say "available hours" which they would not have if they had in fact worked 100 hours straight. -
Theory is good. I did say that..
