My parents bought me a chevy citation to go back and forth to school. It was a 84 model, 2 door, 2.8 V6 with a 4 speed manual. We abused the heck out of that thing and would never die! We eventually wrecked it and is parked in the trees.

My younger brother still has a X11 over in his barn.

I was a real axxhole... On a party line when you made a long distance call they'd come on and ask for your number.... Well the school I went to all my girlfriends were long distance. I got tired of paying a Benjamin every month for my phone bill so I'd just give them a different number.

Not ethical I know but I had something else on my mind and a Benjamin was alot of money back then.

    One more thing...

I don't know your history, how long you've been driving or your long term goals or whatever, but as far as the lunch counter goes...no one is going to tell you this...

    The Lunch Counter Education

    1. You're a driver running freight trying to build your bank account. You put your time in behind the wheel, do the best job you can, watch out for the stupid accidents, use common sense...you generally don't have any problems with the job. However, when you go into the truckstop, you hear some mouth at the counter that's talking about how bad things are and how you can't make any money out here. Don't shut your ears off, for within 5 MINUTES, this fool will explain to you in detail why his arse is broke. A person must have intelligence to be Stupid. If you listen to the person, and his reasoning doesn't make any sense, completely illogical to the point of where you are getting a headache, realize that he is Stupid. When you do that, everything about the person will fall into place.

EXAMPLE: Company drivers selling tarps or fuel. Or some owner operator pulling some cheap, heavy load to a dead zone and he blames the truckin industry.

Anyway, once you realize the guy is Stupid, have your fun. You can talk about Stupid to his face and it won't register.

    2. I always tell people who are looking for drivers that good drivers are almost never looking for a job, and so the best way to hire a good driver is steal him from another. There will be guys sitting at the lunch counter who will own trucks, real trucks, who pay a good wage, no hand holding...and they're looking for a driver that doesn't need his hand held. That could be a golden opportunity for someone in the right place at the right time.

Whaddya talkin' about? I just want to make $100K per year as a company van driver with no East Coast, 100% no-touch freight, no chaining up and a chrome-dipped large car! How is that so unreasonable?? I tell ya, this industry sucks. I'd expand on that, but I gotta get back to the CB shop--just had it peaked and tuned for $500. Say, you know if there's a casino in the area?
