I drove an Osh Kosh front discharge concrete truck with super singles for a couple of years, off road and on dry pavement they are great but when it's wet/icy/snowy you can find yourself in some pretty hairy situations if you aren't a little more careful than with duallies. Overall I liked them a lot, especially with off road use. They would go just about anywhere and without the space between the duallies you don't pack up nearly as much mud and dirt to run off when you get back on the road.

Not always... When we finished school, my wife and I were assigned a Freightliner and the other husband/wife team were assigned a Volvo, and noone ever asked either of us. Now, niether of us complained because my wife and I got and the other couple got. And we both have TriPacs.

Hello everyone Happy New Year!!!!
Been Awhile since I posted but wanted to say it was a great pleasure to work for Watkins Shepard Trucking.
I resigned on 12/1/08 to take a local driving job that will have me home ever night and 3 day weekends every other weekend.
MSM I see you got my old truck I hope it was as clean as I left it with the carpet and the extra storage, when I got the truck it took me one day just to clean it out. Anyway you guys stay safe out there.
Jim

Jim, The extra carpet is great. We've had people ask us where we got it because they want some

We have a list of little mechanical things for the shop, but most of it's minor, just more than I can do. The truck was pretty clean. We spent a couple hours at getting some stuff cleaned up that was in it, but considering the time you were out, they probably used it for some local stuff after you left.
SFS shop said they'd done a lube and complete once over... yeah... they left us 5K from an oil change, left us with no glad hand holders (they were just bungeed to the catwalk, and several other things. My wife and I do not like SFS. -
Just filled out the online app..
Heard they are getting a lot of apps in everyday...I have some driving experience but no CDL, hope i'm considered.
Is the regional a lot of LTL?
I want to get into a regional position from New Jersey terminal.
I use to run 100 stops a day w/ 250 pieces at fedex ground...looking forward to see if i can make some extra cash doing some stops, and doing them in a time mannered fashion, fedex style...heh -
Gonna be tough. As many of the LTL drivers have been put OTR until the freight picks back up.

I applied back in early Dec and it seemed to be looking good. Perfect background, no tickets, great job history, etc. Got my CDL permit, DOT physical and was waiting for the drug/HPE test. Then I got the call right before Christmas, from the recruiting manager himself, saying that they just had too many apps ahead of me and could not see them being able to offer me a position any time soon.
From all I've read W/S seems like a great company and has a much lower turnover rate, especially for a Co that hires rookies/students.
I hope it works out for you, it's all about timing .. plus it sounds like you do have 'some' trucking/delivery experience.
Looks like FFE is my next best choice as I really want to keep the dog with me if possible.
