Here my question, if NY requires an endorsment to haul metal coils, would it apply to everyone regaurdless of what state their lic is from??

yes I think I found that site earlier but had to do other things like cook supper lol...thought that to be interesting....saw that this was mandated in 2003......going to go look at my state and see what new changes might be there that will come up the next time I renew. Thank you for the info..

you only have to have the coil endorsement if your license is from new york if your from ohio or other states you dont have to the coil endorsement to haul a load of coil through new york alabama is the only other state as of right now that requires the endorsement.

Right ^^^ Alabama tried this and was recently shot down by the Feds; speculation is that NY will be next. I think a Coil endorsement isn't a bad idea -- you can wreak as much, or more, havoc with a 48k coil rolling off your trailer than if your milk tanker rolls on its side in a turn. (No offense to tank drivers!) But doing a coil endorsement in a state-by-state piecemeal fashion seems like not the way to go.
