I don't know if rist is home daily. I worked for them for a short period of time. It would have been home more then Werner but it was still leaving home.

There's an abundance of LTL companies in or around Philly. Practically all of them will have some sort of dock to driver program or an apprenticeship program.
FedEx Freight in Delanco, NJ is across the bridge. They may have an apprenticeship program.
FedEx Freight in Croydon is Union...or should I say WAS Union. Also may have an apprenticeship program.
UPS Freight MAY have a dock to driver program in Bensalem and Westhampton, NJ.
YRC I think has their own training academy in Bensalem.
Ward in Bensalem MAY have a dock to driver program
Estes is known to hire new students in Bensalem.
ODFL across the bridge in Pennsauken may hire new students.
ABF near Juniata is known to hire new students.
R+L across the bridge in Burlington may have a dock to driver program.
A Duie Pyle in Morrisville and Westhampton, NJ is known to hire new students.
Pepsi in NE Philly hires new students. Union shop.
Coke is known to hire new students, but the one around N Philly I heard is hard to get into, so they may not have a training program. Union shop too.
NFI in Burlington NJ hires new students.
McLane Foodservice across the bridge in Burlington I think has their own training academy. But I heard you'll be be On Call Extraboard when you start.
PFG across the bridge in Westhampton may have an apprenticeship program.
US Foods across the bridge in Swedesboro may have an apprenticeship program.
Milk Haulers tend to hire new students. Dean Foods/Tuscan in Burlington NJ may have a training program. Same with HP Hood/Penn Maid in NE Philly.
National DCP/Dunkin Donuts in Westhampton NJ pays $28 an hour for Class A and $22 for Class B. Normally you need 2 years experience, but they seem to be desperate for drivers and offering sign on bonus, so they MAY take on new drivers.
Waste Management near Tacony, Bristol, and Tullytown may hire new students.
Lot of Railyards and port work around Philly too. JB Hunt and Schneider Intermodal might hire new students for Morrisville Railyard or Philly ports.
Give them a call and see what happens.Last edited: Apr 4, 2018
Fastbreakstar22 and Shanebme3 Thank this. -
If your interested in port work you could try Tristate Intermodal.
Sysco in south philly is always hiring. So is pepsi and Samuel & Sons. In fact if you go down to the Linc and drive around the few blocks south of it towards delaware ave you will see many many signs of companys hiring drivers. Idk if all will take new drivers but ya never know. Good luck driver!
also try Genesis Logistics they deliver to 7-11'sShanebme3 Thanks this. -
Just a word of advice to a young man
Try to find a union job. A lot of the local LTL places are Union like Volpe Express in Phoenixville. I don't know if they hire drivers out of the school but I think that they pretty much are always looking for drivers. They have a bunch of lease drivers that come in there all the time to fill in.
I'm just suggesting a union job because in the end you'll get more. If you go to work for Food Service Company you tend to really work physically hard, and the place I worked at a lot of the guys were injured regularly.
Whatever kind of work it is that you like doing you should do but watch out for overly physical jobs.
As a young driver you can find a job that won't beat you up and will give you the best wage and benefits and pension that you can get.
Good luckShanebme3 Thanks this. -
