Depending on your job classification/route/terminal etc. here at UPSF you generally won't/don't have to work the dock.
The only heavy dockwork i did was when i did niteliner.
When i was with NEMF you didn't have to work the dock. But this could have changed?Mike2633 Thanks this. -

What's wrong with dock work? You drive around in a forklift all day...vroom...vroom...unloading reloading trailers. Nothing difficult about the job. And you'll get paid a lot more than someone who's working in a warehouse. JMO
Fuelinmyveins, Shaggy, duckdiver and 4 others Thank this. -
Dayton Freight doesn't (generally, at most terminals on most bids). I'm pretty sure Estes and Old Dominion P&D drivers aren't required to, either.
Where are you located? -
I have a brother in law that drives for XPO. He works the dock a couple hours most every night, but he's linehaul. I'll have to ask if P&D loads their own too.
Mike2633, Bob Dobalina and DoubleC77 Thank this. -

He’s right. I’m 18 years in, night linehaul for most of it. Work almost every night.
If you get hired you will work the dock at xpo. Guaranteed. Sometimes a whole shift.Mike2633 Thanks this.
