I don’t think the interior was nearly as bad as anyone on here makes them out to be. In fact, I thought the seat was more comfortable than the Kenworths.

What I’m terrified about is the Paccar engine train in the 680. Far too many guys from my orientation left due to all the downtime. Probably a bad batch, small sample size, whatever. I’ve had enough downtime with the 660 to last a year. Reliability might trump the saux leather this time around. I’m willing to trust the DT12 crap over the Paccar... which is all new in the new batch of trucks.

Once Dad’s O/O days are over, he will be driving his bought in November 1971 brand new Chevelle. We are taking a 5.3 from my z71 with a mild cam and headers, a built 4L60 and Circle D converter and putting it in there. This is basically a ground-up build, paint, full interior swap to buckets and floor shifter, digital gauges, suspension, wheels etc. Not going to make it a true SS clone, just a sharp cruiser that has fuel injection and has all the modern comforts.

Had that happen once...we were towing an El Camino I had acquired with my Thunderbird using a towbar...my cousin and girlfriend (now wife) were driving the T-Bird and I was just sitting in the El Camino looking through the paper in the glovebox. As we passed in front of the old Gates Rubber factory in downtown Denver the left axle slid out and the El Camino hit the ground...with the tire on it bounced across the street and ricocheted off some guys van and he was pissed.

Since me and my cousin both have CDLs we all agreed to tell the cops that my wife was driving and we were just riding, so she took the ticket. Cop looked at us pretty funny as he handed short little her the ticket standing between us.
