"CROOKSTON, Minn. - A Minnesota snowplow operator who drove a $200,000 loader into a frozen river has been fired.
Mike Raymond was clearing snow from county parking lots early Monday when he decided to also clear off a boat ramp on the frozen Red Lake River in Crookston.
Raymond says he wanted to make it easier for people who pull fish houses on trailers onto the river. He so happens to have a fish house on the river himself ' "

Reminds me of a news story I saw a few years ago....it might even be on YouTube.
It seems a news reporter was sent out to do a story (in Minnesota) about the dangers of "thin ice". To get a better shot for the story, she instructed her camera man to drive out on a frozen lake. The News Van (with $hundredsK of video stuff) went thru the ice.

It seems he didn't intend to drive on the ice . The ramp was icy and he slid all the way down it . Doesn't matter . He wasn't supposed to be there . I'm surprised the excavator didn't slide trying to pull it . They should have used a wrecker parked at the top of the ramp . I know a good towing forum but can't post pics from there without getting permission .
