    Hi everyone,
I am looking to buy a truck that will serve for mainly freeway drives , i believe it will accumulate to something between 2k-3k miles a month.
There will be some load on the truck but nothing major and no towing will be done.
Im searching for something reliable that doesn't consume too much gas with a bed about 6 feet (sufficient for a ladder).
My budget is between 7k-10k , but can stretch to 12k if its really worth it.
    Thanks in advance.

You looking for a pickup truck?
Fastenal sells their used heavy duty pickup trucks. I don't know the price. Check the website.

I'll sell you a beat up 1996 Dodge Cummins 2500 with a five speed that would make Fred Flintstone happy for $12k.

I visited their website and unfortunately it does not match my budget.

If you don't have anything constructive to say then shut up.

Trucks and fuel economy don't go together. If you just want a plain work truck as Chinatown said there are plenty of fleet vehicles out there to choose from.

The meaning was that it wouldnt be 12 mpg , more like 16/17 mpg combined.

    No I won't.

My joke was a bit of levity, of course it would get better mileage than those you are looking at.

By the way not to be an **** but you do know this isn't a pickup forum?

If you think a pickup truck is gonna get 16 or 17 mpg combined, you will be sadly mistaken.

I looked up a few trucks such as nissan frontier and etc and they had 16/17 mpg

I thought since this is a truck forum it would belong here , you could just start off with that.

Naw, I thought I would throw that in later on.

By the way if you are not partial to gasoline engine trucks, my monthly list from Ryder for last December has some diesel gm pickups on the list, I haven't seen the last few lists since that one but they may be worth checking out. Also Richie brothers has them come up in their auctions, I get good mileage with diesels over the gassers.
