Question Regarding California DMV and DUI's

    I am about to enroll in a Truck Driving School and I am afraid California won't approve me for a CDL . I had a DUI 11 years ago and another 4.5 years ago . I have not had a drink since my last one and my husband is an OTR driver and wants me to join him. The company already told me I am in if I go to school and get my CDL , including tuition reimbursement . Does anyone know how California DMV works on this ?

    You can get your CDL. It's up to the companies if they'll hire you.

    Getting the CDL is easy. I can't think of anyone other than like a small construction company that would touch you with 2 in 5 years.

    All that being said, my neighbor has 3, and one of the other neighbors got him a job with the state lol.

    Two DUIs is a lifetime disqualification from having a CDL. However I believe that only applies to DUIs that happened while you have the CDL, not before.

    I already have a job offer , so that isn't what I was worried about . :)
    I heard back from the DMV and they said it's no problem, so that was the answer I was looking for .
    My DUIs were almost 7 years apart which doesn't make any difference lol. And had I not been offered such a good opportunity I would probably never consider it .
