ELD exempt trucks or gliders

    The point of that just because someone chooses to, or wants to skirt the HOS regulations, ou doesn't mean that they have to do so just to make any money, or decent money, or even really good money. Just means that it's an opportunity to make even more money.

    Some people seem to think that if you WANT to work more hours you must not be making money the rest of the day, don't see where the logic is there but whatever.

    If it’s wrong for the government to say how long you can work why stop there? How dare they make you have operating authority? The nerve of them to force you to have insurance! And it’s absurd that they make you pay to put a license plate on your truck.

    I know several people both company guys and owner operators that make dang good money on E logs.

    I think several that ran out and bought a dolled up over priced heap or the classic fixer upper are bout to get educated.

    I run old iron I have ok luck but that doesn't mean every one will. Like it or not E logs are coming to every truck on the road, mechanicals included. Its not as hard to do as some may think. 2 speed sensors and a generic ecm for the device to plug into. Engine speed and road speed is all the device reads. We need HOS to keep us honest, same as DOT inspecting trucks. Imagine the junk that would be on the road.

    I've only had one driving job state side that was worth working over 70 hours a week and that was because I was making $500+ a day.

    Some of you sound like you'd fit in with C R England back in the late 1990s. They were paying .26 a mile. There moto was "We pay you less but we give you more miles." I always preferred "Work smarter,not harder."

    And I prefer maximum pay and maximum hours but welcome to earth where the ambitious are called criminals

    Yep, you have me figured out. I choose to get paid for my time so I guess that means I don’t like thinking for myself. If you want my real opinion this industry would be better off if deregulation never happened. Then we wouldn’t all be getting broken down to the lowest common denominator. But, here we are and all one can do is make the best of it. You’re not going to rattle me, I’ve already heard it from my old friends that still live in their trucks driving 20+ hours a day. I go Hawaii for a couple weeks and I’m lazy because I’m not working. I go to AZ for two weeks at Christmas and I’m lazy because I’m not working. I’m lazy because I only work 4 or 5 days a week.

    Like I said earlier, as long as you accept the consequences then do as you please but don’t complain about how you’re regulated when it’s a choice to work in a regulated industry.
