1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

I'm looking to work with an O/O. The economy and my current location(Fl.) are causing me some problems. I'm new to semi's but have been driving big trucks for over 15 yrs. Grad from BFI and Road Master both. I'm 53 yrs old and have no accidents or drug/ alch problems. Willing to relocate if needed. I'm trying to my foot in the door and willing to work for reduced rate. I can't give an email address here on the forum but if you respond I'll get in touch with you through the mediator.

    Heh Bossman,
    Good luck in your pursuits!
Just one hint, don't volunteer to work for a "reduced rate"!!! You will start at a reduced rate anyway, so why make it easy on them.
I always put "salary negotiable" on an application. That way they know i'm not looking for top dollar, but i'm not going to work for nothin' either.
As you have probably read on this forum, times are tough out there. But taking a job that pays $250 a week when it is going to cost you around $150 a week to live on the road (minimum), it's not quite worth it. (I figured the $150 on 2 meals a day) and that is only for food.
I came up with this number because I will be with a trainer for three weeks at $350 a week, and I told my wife I will not start on making my "second million, gave up on the first" for at least three weeks! LOL

Im not trying to sound like a jerk, but dont pimp yourself out! Its bad for all of us! If your will to relocate there are plenty of jobs that would be glad to have you! Look into moving to the Carolinias or the midwest! there are tons of companies in these areas. Fl is hard right now even for experienced drivers! Hang in there if you can or like I said find a relative in the midwest to use there address and get a job that way! If your willing to drive the same truck as the rest of us at a "reduced rate" why in the heck would companies want to pay the rest of us a "fair rate" Im sorry for your hard times and I hope you find light at the end of your tunnel! Conatct me and Ill do what I can to help!

I just wanted to drive for a couple of yrs while the stock market was down but it doesn't look like that's going to happen. I guess I'll just go fishing.

I have placed my apps with everyone I can find but everyone seems to be slow or I'm outside their hiring area. I'm about ready to just wait for awhile. I'll be finished with my degree in Oct. so I have someting to keep me busy.
