Call this place www.straightlinesteering.com, they rebuilt my TRW/Ross steering gearbox last year at half the price of a Volvo Stealership Remanufactured or a Fleetpride Remanufactured, and they give you the same one year warranty as them without the Vaseline.

CK in your town for a cil. rebuilding co. they are ok to rebuild as long as no pitting is seen on cil ?

Minor pitting is usually not an issue, they chrome the shaft to build it up then polishing it back down to size. That adds to the cost but in my experience, it's often still much cheaper than replacing. The last one I did was a 2 stage for a car hauler. It was $550 or so new. Both shafts were pitted pretty bad, they fixed it up for a little under $250.
I use RG Group here in the north east. RG Group | Your complete source for motion control and fluid handling solutions. They pick it up and give free quotes within a day or 2. 3 out of 4 times, it's cheaper to have them fix it over replacing. If not, I didn't pay them to tear it down for a quote, so no big loss. If they only need seals, we do that ourselves, but if they're pitted up, we'll send them out to see if they can be saved.
