Just my two cents, but most of the drivers I've come across in my short career are friendly. Maybe not always a wave, but I've good advice & help when I needed it.

    You're welcome eckz. :yes2557:
And thanx for writing the post that begot it. :salute:
YeAH, but a little good natured :smt064 can be a learnin' tool, too. :yes2557::biggrin_25525:
    Ya reckon.

Not to mention, cussin' over the airwaves is not only a "mistake" --- it's against the law.

    HeY, Fire Trucker ---
I've been to Philly, and I assure you, when there, I need ALL the help I can GET. :biggrin_2551: :yes2557:

I used to haul military bomb-loaders out of a company there in Philly.
My directions instructed me to stop at a certain gas station, ---
and call 'em to come fetch me with their pilot-car to guide me through the streets where a Big truck WILL fit.
Even if a driver THINKS they remember the way.
    THAT, I remember. :yes2557:

    I well remember.
And I remember it was a hot seat for awhile. :blob6:

Ribbing and hazing :smt064 go with the territory, folks.
    Sometimes it applies, sometimes not.
    When y'all realize it ain't y'all bein' "bashed" ---
you just might be considered an experienced Big truck truck driver ---
and the ribbin' and hazin' doesn't apply to y'all, anymore.
And that right thar is a GOOD feelin'. :yes2557:
    MORE powah to ya!
    GOOD for YoU ---
    And THEM, too.
Personally, I remember my rookie daze when more experienced Bttdrivers, especially those drivin' nice Big trucks,
waved at me when they passed me in my 55 MPH Big truck.
That sure made me feel good, and I continued that practice to and for other Bttdrivers, in hopes it gave them the same feelin' as it did for me.
    Encouragement and aspiration.
    :protest::knob:
    10-4!

Wayyy back in the day, I drove an Orange cab-over, and it was a toss-up which Big truck was faster ---

(Not-So) Swift, or my Pumpkin. :biggrin_25523:
So I usually just fell in line and followed Swift ---
Rather than clogging the main arteries.
    Hmmmmmmm
    Good question.
    If so, I'd say it's a personal problem ---
    THEIR'S.
Personally, I don't think it does.
    But apparently some others do.
    Some ROADS are narrow, ---

    Not unlike some minds,
    easily confused by the facts.

The Big truck does not the driver make, ---
But rather the DRIVER makes the Big truck.

Skills come in ALL colors. :yes2557:

Lemmie ask y'all a question 'bout bashin'.

If y'all were walkin' up or down a crowded street, ---

    And SOMEone yelled:
    :director2::director:~~~~ HeY, #*#&##* :biggrin_25516:

    Would y'all turn around?
    Or, realize that because y'all AREN'T a/an
    #*#&##*, ---
    they weren't talkin' to you?

    See, if y'all get riled-up over a name that doesn't pertain to y'all, ----
SOME folks might think it does.
    Imagine that.

Same thang applies here at The Truckers' Report.
If someone refers to a newBee as a puke, or worse,
don't assume that applies to y'all if it doesn't apply AT all, TO ya'll.
    Does that make sense?
By being offended, it gives the impression that it DOES (apply).
If the drivin' glove don't fit ---
    By golly,
    Don't wear it.

    Instead, tell 'em ---
    They Call me MISTER Driver.
    Or, whatever y'all's handle is.
    :biggrin_25525:

Others can only make y'all mad --- :biggrin_25510:
    IF y'all let 'em.

I consider myself a courteous and helpful driver,I always help with directions do the "flashing over" thing and anything else to be helpful.Last week I had to deliver to a place that has a notoriously tight 1 st dock All the way there I was hoping I didnt get that dock. when I arrived I was put in door 4 (yeah) well upon backing in I was told I would have to be unloaded and that they had to put return boxes on me,well this put me in a bad mood, and as I was sitting there stewing about having to wait another truck pulled in and proceeded to back in door 2 he was having lots of trouble as there was a trailer in door 3 and he kept getting out to look and he had to really jack it around. So instead of helping him out I sat there in my bad mood and my "I got mine in let him get his in" mood and did nothing.Well about the time he got it in the dock lady came out and said it would be much quicker if u go get an empty and we will just load the returns on it and send u on your way. Well guess what was the only door left open?you know it door 1 and now the guy I wouldnt help was on my blindside in a spot that because of the fence in front the docks is almost impossible to get a freightliner classics into.I swung around and got out to open the doors he met me at the back and was opening the doors and said come on back I'll watch ya. Now I had just watched this guy struggle for 15 minutes while I sat there and did nothing to help just because I was mad I had to sit for a few minutes. Now maybe he helped cause he didnt want me to hit his truck even if it was a run down company truck but he certainly didnt have to help with the doors. So do what you can to help, you never know when it will come back around and u may end up feeling really silly like I did.

I always try to help out my fellow drivers when I can. We all have bad days and it seems like when it rains it pours! Meaning that when your having that bad day is when you end up having an accident.

Don't let pride get in the way & don't wait for someone to ask for help or for that matter to ask for it yourself. We are all out here doing the same job, the only difference is the name on the side of the truck.

So, make that effort and help out a trucker! Who knows, you just might make a friend out of it.

I sit on both hands to keep from waving at everybody. I wave to Swift or Schneider and the Meskins who drive for Celadon. Never know when you might need them to pull you out of a rollover like I did in 74. Came out of Kingman E bnd and we had a load of lumber on. The torsion bar on the R side broke and the front drivers went left and fwd and the rears went back. We went upside down in 1.5 seconds. The way we figured out the speed was I remember shifting into 15 th on an 18 spd and bang. We then measured how far we went before the truck hit on its side. Gosh!:Airplane: Thats why I became a Aircraft Mechanic.:biggrin_2551:

When I'm at work driver the fire truck, I often times hit the air horn to get
the truckers attention just to wave.
Even when I can't blow the horn I still wave. Seems as if being courteous
has went by the waste side. Hell, when I'm responding to a call lights & sirens
people barely move out your way.
Least the kids are still amazed somewhat.

I guess he missed the point, didn't he. Just has to take yet another chance to take a shot at another driver.
As Ben Franklin once said, "Friends, we must all hang together... or we will most surely all hang separately."
