Am I the only driver that's ever walked up to the window to order?
Truck stop location and you lock the doors at 10 pm?
I know its the ghetto..beatty eyed security guard in loves scoping everyone out.
I walk up to the window..knock on it.
Dude comes to the window and plays dumb.
I ask in a loud voice..could I place an order please...as he wouldn't open the window.
The second time I gave him my best impression of a U S marine drill sargent..could I place an order please sir...
    He got the mesage...lol

You wonder how much extra cost would it require to install a small speaker box right next to the drive thru window. They stay open 24 hrs, but turn away business. The majority of people going through the drive thru already know what they are going to order, so a menu board is not necessary.
I was able to get the young lady to accept my order at the Jack in the Box drive thru in Livingston, CA at about 3 am one morning. She didn't want to, but since i wasn't dress like a homeless man, i guess she thought she could chance it.

Do you go through west Memphis much? For years a cop sat in the petro restaurant all night. I'm guessing whoever was working that window prefers not to get shot in the face for a few dollars.

Even sadder is that you could’ve eaten a Tops BBQ sandwich or a really good cheeseburger one exit north of the 55/40 split. So on top of suffering from pedestrian discrimination, you got an average meal.

You CANNOT do that in West Memphis. I live in Memphis TN. That stuff does not fly there. You should know better than that. Besides, you have options. Subway is in Love's. Denny's is in the Flying J. Pilot has Wendy's but you better get there before 1 am. The only places I've been to on the road that take walk up orders is the McDonald's in Kansas City, KS that's across the street from the QT and Krystal in Hattiesburg, MS at the Valero off 59. The McDonald's actually has a walk up window for after hrs

You ain't never lied about that Tops BBQ. That's really good stuff, and it's cheap.

I like that Tops opens at 9 am. Tops on Stateline has a big abandoned parking lot and I swing in there sometimes and meet my folks for a meal or just grab it to go. Who eats BBQ at 9 am? Me, I woke up and 2 am and it’s lunchtime.

All of the major fast food chains have the same policy. Absolutely no walk up business is to be conducted at the drive up window. It is for obvious safety reasons. Odds are the average automobile driver who is at at a drive up window at that time of night is drinking or high. And they tend not to see a pedestrian they don't expect and run over them.
There is so little business to be gained by the occasional walk up it is easier to ignore it.
