Nothing like that anymore — at least not when I went through high school — which wasn’t that long ago, I graduated in 2013.

Most weekend activities revolved around Friday night football — which we always lost and then would turn into a beach bum Saturday.

I’d say it’s more of a time changing sorta thing. I’m not so sure what most kids are into these days and the law isn’t what it once was. It’s easy to say we’re all into video games and drugs — I don’t think the drug use is anymore now than it was way back then.

I’d say there’s a lot more expectations put onto kids these days. The law is a lot stricter. Gone are the days of dragging you home to the parents for a whooping. Now you’re sitting in county over what was once a minor offense.

My uncle gifted me a 883 before he past — I was a junior and I rode that thing everywhere. That was the closest thing to heaven I ever had back then.

When I was a kid before cell phones that’s how we found people, jump on the cruise route or hang out at the grain elevator parking lot.

My dad told me one day he was at a Big Star in the parking lot making out some bills. Guess what I heard, he asked? I told him I am not sure. He said I heard a motor screaming, and look up to see a 79 Elcamino doing a burnout across a four way intersection. I said that’s odd, wonder who it was? He says you know who it was, and if you do it again, you will be walking or taking the bus to school. Understood.

Lol. We used to run without hoods at all if you had at least chrome valve covers and yellow spark plug wires. Ahhhh,,,,, Cherry Bombs bolted to a set of cheap headers. My pride and joy was a 68 Camaro. Holes in the floor board and no working windshield wipers.

Man I had a lot of fun in that car, but what a death trap. Good thing it wasn’t as fast as a modern minivan.

You probably did like me, the chrome dress up kit with T style valve cover bolts, yellow Accel plug wires and the blue Moroso wire loom kit. Then finish it off with the braided hose kit for the upper radiator hose and I was hot to trot.
