ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT

I would think that if you have the power support a fridge would be better. After about 5 days the power coolers have a tendency to freeze around the motor, and decreased cooling. I take my power cooler out every w/e to defrost the motor.

I was about to start another thread, but figure this one would suffice.
I just bought a coleman cooler, plugs into your lighter. it really doesnt do anything. light is on, and it IS cooling, just not cool enough for me.
I have a company POS 2005 Volvo with 243k+ miles on it. I want something in the truck that can keep things actually COOL. Not freezer or fridge cold, but something that will keep meat and water cool.
any suggestions? Thinking of taking my coleman cooler back to wally world, and maybe going to Camping World or Cabella's for suggestions. -
Powering a TV and a fridge would usually take a fairly large inverter. I USED to have a 1500 watt inverter to power TV, lap top, coffee pot and assorted stuff, but it wore out in less than 4 years. I now have a 3000 watt and have used it to power an industrial floor sander. I have been using the 3000 watt for about 8 years.
For a fridge and tv, I wouldn't go with anything less than 3000 watts. -
I have the same thing and it works really good, keep my meat and other stuff I want to stay real cold up by the vent at the top on the shelf, and drinks and condiments down below, mine stays really cold, havent used it on really hot days yet, have heard some keep theirs int he front seat with ac vent blowing on the heat sink. Do you feel the heat coming off the top of yours with the fan blowing?

Personally I have not experianced this problem... However i do clean mine often but for cleanliness not maintenance.
I have a coleman that plugs right in the the cig lighter powersource..It does take it a few hours to get operating temps. and it fits perfectly in the closet comparment... and as of yet it hasnt let me down. -
The thing about those coolers is they only cool to no more than 40° F below ambient temp. If your truck stays very warm your food will stay warm. The best way to insure your stuff stays cold is place your cooler so the air inlet for the fan is in the path of an AC outlet. That is why you see so many strapped in the passenger seat.
