You could easily have quick connect on the tractor, and regular lines with glads to hook to them.

I have the female ends on my deckplate and out the back of my frame and then my airlines have glad hands. D.O.T. has never said anything about having them. It's also nice when you are bobtail and you can take your airlines and put them in your side box.

As long as the female end is mounted on the tractor I wouldn't see where there would be a problem?

I use quick connects on both the truck and trailer. My air lines come out the back cross member of the truck and connect under the trailer. I use females on both and male ends on the lines. If I ever have to pull another trailer I move the lines back behind the sleeper (female quick connects are also used there) and I use 2 glad hands with female quick connects. Never had a problem with DOT checks nor air leaks. I pull a flatbed and I am allways up on the deck plate and its nice not having the air lines under your feet while getting up and down on the trailer.

I realize this is an old thread, yet I am researching on performing this mod on my truck/trailer. Are there "specific" type/brand connectors one should buy? I know that the ones I use on my shop air compressor leak. Are these the style or completely different? Also was a cutoff valve used @ the tractor for the connectors used to supply another trailer w glads? Thank you

I used the best Amazon Hose and Rubber in Orlando sold. I had no problems with DOT either. I had two sets of glad hands made up in case a shipper needed to pull my trailer(like when it went to Mexico) and for my truck lines in case I needed to pull another trailer. They were so much better than glad hands.

Try M style couplers, they don't usually leak.

I did read that M style couplers work great. I also read Milton and Prevost make superb products as well. I really do like the look of the Prevost Safety couplers, yet they are pricey. Yet, I am most likely going to use atleast 4 of the Prevost, 2 tractor 2 trailer. The 2 spare @ rear of cab for pulling other trailers might not be Prevost. Thank you folks for input. Great site.
