Hi..
I have everything ready to get on the road except active Authority.
My insurance file BMC-91X on Friday 04/13/2018. How long does it take to active(Authorize) MC# after that? I heard 3 days, but today is fourth day, do they count weekends too or just the week days?
Thanks
How long does it take for authority to get active

10 to 21 days

^^^^^^ basically. Don't hold your breathe... but don't get discouraged either, it's a waiting game and your at their mercy now.

It took 4 weeks from when i hit submit.i had everything good to go. By law they have post your application for so many days for the public to comment and give reason why you shouldn't get your authority. I believe that's 21 days, then you have another 3-7 days after that period for them to review and approve.
You can always call the fmcsa and ask them what date window they have it scheduled for. I did that and mine when active when they said it would. -
I just did chat with fmcsa and they gave me 04/19/2018 active date for authority.. so hopefully after 2 days I will be ready to go...
baha Thanks this. -
just a general question, can you get authority and still lease with a company and run on their authority or is it one or the other and not both?
-
Whats the point?
-
Yes, you can have your own authority and lease to someone else....but only one dot# is supposed to be on the truck at a time....
-
i'm just thinking if you change your mind later on that you no longer want to do you own authority but would want to lease with a compnay. just trying to understand if its one or the other state that once you have your own authority you can't lease with a company as if this is a rule.
