aye. the only thing i wonder about my trainer is how he gets away with saying that to pretty girls like roadtoad69. every time i do that i get slapped! :)

all is well for me at the moment. they bussed me from fort worth to austin and i joined there with a load of frozen cookie dough going to lafeyette, la. from there, deadhead to a chicken factory somewhere in southern mississippi ... where we've been waiting for a load nearly 24 hours. hour appointment was 13 hours ago and we've only just gotten a dock. but there's a yellow pete who's been in his dock about 8 hours, so there's no telling when we'll get out of here. in theory we're going to iowa somewhere. :)

anyway, now that i'm rolling i'm pretty happy. i was honestly terrified of the training situation, because you always hear the horror stories. my trainer is pretty good. :)

I hope he does well. The guy that gives the road test is real tough! I'm still hoping for around Feb. 10th--15th to be cleared to get back to Jackson and get into a truck again.

You have a really fantastic trainer. He is very patient and has a great sense of humor.
Yeah, we talk goofy to each other...LOL! It is all in good fun.

BTW...got that load delivered before the reefer crashed out on me again. For the rest of you-
I picked up a load in Cayce, SC and the next day the reefer quit holding the temp about 30 miles north of Knoxville. I ended up turning around and going back to Knoxville for repairs only to find out that it was a freon leak and it was somewhere inside the *loaded* trailer. So he filled it up with freon again and I busted behind for Geneva, IL., hoping to get there and unloaded before the reefer blew all the freon again. Mission accomplished.

So, Rnbwpnt, I am in Portage until Monday morning. Have to take a load from the Portage yard back to the same place I just delivered in Geneva and it is due there at 6am on Monday. So if you guys get up here before then, see if you can shoot by the Portage yard. If not then I'll catch you somewhere on the road.

i'm sure the boss will let you know if we wind up in portage, he seems to tell everybody everything every day, so i hear it eight or ten times. :) our drop outside des moines is at noon, and we're betting a westbound run out of iowa city to somewhere in the realm of salinas. yay for the lettuce.

Yep, it was Otis Spunkmeyer. The "girl at the window" this time was the exceptionally cute granddaughter of the guy working the window that day. She was a hoot! She had the whole process down. Asked me if I was picking up or delivering and handed me the Outgoing clipboard and told me to sign in. I think she might have been all of 7 years old and her grandfather was down the hall talking to his boss. She had her best professional demeanor going on. Cracked me up!

Uniform is not required but they do GIVE you two t-shirts with the company logo on the shirt pocket. No cost. You can buy additional shirts (like a denim style, button up shirt or polo type shirt) with the company logo from the company catalog (we have no physical store) and pay for them through payroll deduction. But that is wholly optional. I think my co-driver also got two additional shirts upon her 1 year anniversary and got to choose between several styles.
