That they do, and they have this $1500 dollar whopper they can slap you with, if you admit to skipping one. Merrit can get pretty steep if you're heavy; seen a couple lose it there. CVSE is watching Golden (Ten Mile Hill), Merrit, Zopkios Westbound (Field and Alberta Canyon are rarely patrolled). They watch Inks Lake (before Kamloops) and the Kamloops scale one like hawks, so don't #### around with those ones.

Made it to golden. Calling it a day here.
First one before field is just a green sign only one and a very short pull out. Didn't stop.
2nd one I think 3 signs including big white one. Stopped at that one.
This sure is some beautiful country out here. Road is in good shape today.

Brake check stops are not a suggestion in B.C. they are required, regardless of sign color. You must stop, get out, do a proper check with a walkaround, and write it in your log. There are no exceptions tolerated, nor should there be. Who in their right mind would run a brake check to save a moment?

I love the trip from Exshaw out to Revelstoke. I wish I had a chance to travel that highway more often.

My question was to the legal requirements. If they were all required then why are some with 1 green sign and others have white signs? Why does the one before golden have a white sign but does not include the word "must" when the one before Hope does use the word "must"? The signage is not all the same so that's why I was in question. And like I said before it seems an excessive amount of brake check stops.

A CVSE officer explained to me years ago all brake checks in B.C. are mandantory, regardless of sign color. He was glad to see I had carefully recored all my stops in my log. We had a terrible crash years ago on the Horseshoe bay ferry hill where an paving dump truck loaded with hot mix lost his brakes on the hill and crashed into vehcles waiting for the ferry. with fatalities.
This was even though it was a MANNED brake check, with an officer on duty who would issue the driver a brake check verification slip which allowed the truck to board the ferry. Even with this system, which depended on the ability of the driver to actually check his brakes and be sure they were adjusted properly, the crash happened anyway. The officer didn't actually have to watch the driver do the check, you just went and got your slip at his booth after you did your check. Sometimes even a back-up system will fail, as it did this time...

    All white signs:
    Before revelstoke
    At Merritt
    At zopkios
    Total of 5
4 of them are white signs. So I guess my memory was off. It felt like they had them every 30 miles. Show 3 or 4 minutes on eld per one so should be all good.

If you've ever experienced brake fade on a downhill grade, you'll stop at every single one.

I wish there were more safe places to stop on the 17 between Terrace Bay and Nipigon.

95% do a roll through at the brake checks even friggin super b’s ... I do my quick walk around and have spotted the spring holding airline glad hand broken and lines on catwalk.. it’s also a good place to clear snow off tail lights if your the type who wants to be seen when you come to one of the constant stops for whatever incident is going on

Is it really a requirement to drop a line to mark down a brake check ? How about fuel ?
Very few drivers are checking brakes, they're doing a walk around and maybe checking load securement. I have three brake checks within 20 min from home. I see it 3-4 times a day.
    Drivers checking brakes...nope.
