Only if you are stopped long enough to do something (see below), i.e., "flag" it if it is less than 15 minutes (noting time spent), or full increments if more than 15 minutes. or actual time if elogs.
Same as above.
An ex-RCMP that was based in BC (and runs the drivesmartbc website) has posted that the courts have determined that simply stopping the vehicle is sufficient and meets the requirements of the brake check. Of course a full brake check is much better.

What is it with people. anyways? You are supposed to be a professional right, not a cowboy from a Smokey and the Bandit movie. Start acting like it, or rue the consequences, and rightly so.
If you were getting paid by the hour, as everybody should be, what is the time required to do a brake check, anyway? Think about it...MartinFromBC and Zeviander Thank this. -
So if you write down "Brake Check" that proves it's been done. Ok.
What do you do at a brake check 3noses ? -
1. 2 full-on brake applications to adjust all auto-slacks correctly.
2. Set maxis for walk around.
3. Do walk-around, checking for
a. Unsecured lines. leaks at glad hands or maxi-cans.
b. Hot bearings or drums, cracked or broken drums.
c. Tire air leaks or air bag leaks
d. Chain tensions on load.
It is a lot easier now with auto-slacks than the old manual adjusters. Note I frequently haul multi-axle combinations including oversize/weight, so to do the above can easily take the 15 minute space on the log book page line 4.
Good to go, hope this helps...Ol'Shusquatch, MartinFromBC and Zeviander Thank this. -

I park, pull the spike for a full app using a bungee if needed, walkaround listening for air and looking at the slack adjusters (90 degrees max). Then I shut the truck off, charge the brakes, a couple of applications listening for leaks. Those infrared temp. gus are handy, for hubs and drums.

My brother got a ticket for not stopping for a brake check in BC. His company made him hire a paralegal to fight it because it was 6 points against the carrier. It cost him $650.

Not trying to be a dick, but if you can't bring it to a stop on any hill without getting stuff that hot, you're going too fast.
Ol'Shusquatch, MartinFromBC, magoo68 and 1 other person Thank this. -
It's all in here, Green are guide signs, while white and black are regulatory signs. however expect a ticket for not stopping at the non required checks and expect to fight it in court.
