I would say it depends on exactly how it was written. The problem is how you interpret the english language. Eg 15 t0 30 does not include the 30th if you put inclusive it does. How ever if you are not going to fight it it matters not. And yes it's a bs charge. -
You are off duty through the 10th. That off duty STOPS at that 10th.
11th says workday. Fine. Run your off duty LINE until the start time of your workday, which is on the 11th sometime. Pretrip etc.
You cannot have offduty through the 10th and then do off duty on the 11th and begin working that same day.
It's a minor whoops. Don't do it again.
By the way never sign your today's workday log until after midnight tonight because to sign it is to certify that your log is legal, complete and finished for the current day. -

You has to go and open up a whole new can of worms with your last sentence didn't you. LOL
Are you saying the entries you already made for the day are Not correct?
Anybody that travels to Ontario CA the MTO expects the current log to be signed.x1Heavy Thanks this. -
Im sorry I caused trouble.
When I sit in truck pretrip done waiting for water to reach engine temp I fill out the beginnings of the new workday, it is not yet signed because the work day is not yet complete.
If something comes up for a potential citation, I am allowed make a one time fix before they examine again. If all in order I am on my way. If not> Ticket timel -
Could be that they think if you are doing duty writing logs while off duty they be thinking you should be on duty writing logs., Dang that duty stinks.

That signing the log part has never fully been understood and honestly with the new mandates I say good riddance. For the record that signature part was for later. A DOT cop can cite you for a log book issue regardless of if it was signed or not. The reason being it was required to be on the road. A safety person told me once something I never forgot. Drivers need to understand all contracts are legal documents but not all legal documents are contracts and because of this not all legal documents need a signature to be legally binding.

Logs were supposed to be signed at the end of the day, certifying the accuracy of the info contained on the page. Just like you can't certify your elog until the day is complete, you shouldn't sign your paper log until you're done. That being the case, if you haven't signed today's log, you're OK for not having signed it...but you can still be cited for any falsifications. If you HAVE signed today's log, but you're not yet finished with today, you can be cited for form & manner...but it takes a real prick of a cop (or an attitude on your part) to actually be written for that. If you haven't signed yesterday's log, though, that's a form & manner violation that they'll write every time they catch it...plus falsification if the logs wasn't accurate. Don't ever believe that you can falsify your log all you want as long as you don't sign it...unless of course you've got the US Marshals on speed dial...

My last 2 years on the road I used transflo to send in all my logs and bills. I always sent logs in when I sent in a bill. I always signed my log just before I tore the top copy off to put up till I scanned. I had a DOT cop once to notice my log was not signed. He just laughed and looked at it anyway.
