I've heard of the Road Hammers, and even heard the Road Hammers, and they are a country based band and did some trucking related songs. I think they were being played on Dave Nemo's show about a year ago at one of their album releases. Not my cup of tea to listen to the trucking channels any more, since I can't stand the idiot callers, so I haven;t heard anything about them in a while.

Might be on the country channels, but I don't do them any longer either. I liked older country, but don;t have much tolerance for the current generation of singers.

my dh drives, and he has been told about it by a few different drivers, one asked if he was union, he said no. and they told him they want all wheels to stop between jan 3 through 8th. hubby said some are really angry about it, they want more pay, and lower fuel prices.
so how many of you will stop if this happens?

I was reading through a couple of these forums with a hunch I wanted to confirm. By appearances, it looks like I was right: most of the strike-themed forums dropped off on cue when the price of fuel dropped.

Regarding the Road Hammers, they're actually a Canadian group, fronted by Canadian Country singer Jason McCoy. Their first appearance was actually in the video of Paul Brandt's remake of the CW McCaul song "Convoy." (For those who don't know, Paul Brandt's another prominent Country singer in Canada.)

From what I recall, they wanted to pay homage to their father's life and times by reviving many of the old trucking singles. They're not strictly Country music, and neither were the older trucker songs. Most of them were southern Rock and Rockabilly, which is a countrified Rock music. I believe they were intended to be just a single release side-project, but seem to have had quite a bit of success and thus are continuing on with the project.
