I’ve been to Sikeston a few times. There’s actually 2 plants in that town under the same name. I went to the wrong plant the first time.
I’ve also dead headed to Mission from there as well. When you get to NJ you will be under the Pennsylvania office dispatch umbrella.

Well, I’m still on the Iowa-New Jersey run, currently at the wash in E. St. Louis, hopefully when I get to NJ things will get better! I actually got a 34 in while waiting to unload so at least I can quit running off of recap hours for the next several days!! I’m trying to remain positive!! I’m so thankful for this thread! It shows me what kind of runs I have to look forward to and allows me to get some frustration off my chest!

Hang in there, you will eventually get something out of there. When I first hired on I took a trade truck from Clovis to Florida then got shot up to Chicago with a juice load. I ended up spending 3-4 weeks running Coopersville, MI to Wisconsin and back, Fair Oaks, IN, Ohio to Wisconsin, etc..
It’s not my favorite region either. Fortunately, the miles added up and my checks were always good up there, it just made for a lot of boring days. When you get close to making your delivery in NJ I would call the PA office and talk to John. Tell him you haven’t had a cross country load in several weeks and you’re willing to help him out on anything if he’s behind if he can try to get you on something with some distance afterwards. Let him know you just did a 34 and have plenty of hours and he will probably hook you up.

I agree with @Tanker_82. I volunteered to help with a shuttle run, but I asked to head to Florida once done. It took 2 loads, but ended up down there. Dispatch does well with working with you. Sometimes it just how the loads fall. It does get frustrating, but the payoff is worth it. Just like me. I only drove 340 miles yesterday. I don’t load till tonight. Sitting yes, but I have a 2,6xx mile run after it. Stay positive. When I was up there, NE, I was thinking, did I sign up for NE regional? Lol. It’ll get better.

Yep. Once you learn the system and where certain loads ship to and from it’s easy to wheel and deal with dispatch. If I do this or that to help you out of a bind, will you put me on a load going here afterwards? 9 times out of 10 they’re open to negotiation where everyone ends up happy.
When I sat on that Canada load for 3 days a few weeks ago John just leveled with me and told me straight up that I was probably going to have to wait till Monday before he could get the PARs number to get it across. I kept a good attitude and asked if he would make it up to me with a long haul afterwards. Sometimes they will say yes but I have a load I’m really getting pressed on first and if you can do that I will bring you straight back up over here and put you on something that has some long legs behind it, etc..
It just takes communicating with them.
Another thing, if you get a preplan that’s pushed out a day or 2 and you’re hurting for miles, don’t be afraid to call and ask if they have something else that loads sooner so you can keep moving. A lot of times they’ll make adjustments if they know you’re willing to rush and stay busy.

Just a heads up. I picked up st Venture Coastal last night. Nice folks, but man. They have a ton of rules. Must wear jeans, hair net, bread net, and hard hat. No photos. No social media staying you are there. Even though it’s outside, no idling. Would get quite warm during the afternoon. With all that being said, I was only there 2 hrs total.

I haven’t been there in several months. I wonder what brought all of that on? I remember having to kill the motor and that’s about it.

Not sure. The guy at the guard shack handed me this two sided paperwork. Saying, do you want to read it or have me summarize it and laughed. Sure were a lot of rules, but nothing that was too over the top.
