Hello. This may have been answered already, but there is a ton of replies here.
Bought a new TND740 to replace my TND730. Using a MacBook. The 730 connected fine to transfer the data (miles/fuel/POI). I can not for the life of me get the 740 to connect to the Dock. Any advice based on your experiences.

It doesn’t connect to the dock... everything is done over the air... there is however a workaround to transfer over your user data... look thru this thread for the instructions and follow them to the letter
-
Got it. That’s what I needed was to transfer user data. I’ll look. Thanks

Android and I have a HotSpot to keep it connect. I meant when you lose cell service or GPS signal all together.

I find it very odd that no one has commented on the reason as to why Mark has not been on this thread for the past few months.I'm sure someone knows the reason, maybe Don@Dieselboss knows as he used to be in contact with Mark quite regularly.
So how about it, anyone have any info. -
I remember he has had medical issues in the past...
Maybe he quit...jtaran06 Thanks this. -
True, but he hasn't been oin here now for what, 2 months? and normally ion the past he only was gone for maybe 3 weeks, 4 at best.
and not only has he gone, but it seems that all the chatter on here has died. used to be 2-4 post a day almost. now its like 2 a weeks and mostly us.
I have also been hearing rumors, talk, that RM in general has been seriously lacking in their support. the 730 are like dead, files for the 740 are slow. we have no way of getting out data files off the 740 anymore, so thats become useless. the OD7 & 8 i have not seen any real updates in @ month now.
So what is going on?
Do we all start looking for a new GPS? -
I will never pay big money for another gps. The smart truck route app is doing great and new updates come out continuously.
Could be rm sees the writing on the wall -
i stopped using my 740 because i can't get the data files out of it anymore and they Never Fixed the Traffic. Its been a year.
and NOTING.
Im leaning towards going back to tablet based. give Smart truck a try or go back to CoPilot.
Im just not seeing any support for RM anymore. Its been over a year on the Traffic for the 740, Nothing
its been since January they were supposed to come out with an App so we could get the Data Files ourselves, Nothing
Its been over 2 months now here with No Mark any more
There is still no solution to the never ending issue that the maps are 1-2 years behind reality and that seems to be an issue the RM is OK with. Im not, i need current road maps.
General support and interest seems to have dropped off the cliff.
RM had an Ongoing issue with their Elog, which as far as I know, was Never fixed.
There is a LOT of problems going on here
and its not 100% RM, Garmin is also falling into some of this.
Why spend $400- $500 for a GPS, that is Android based but cant do anything, and is outdated in a year, the maps are outdated or a year+ old from the minute you get them, or better yet, you have any one of the dozen tech issues with it and then lack of support
WHEN INSTEAD, FOR @ $10 A MONTH i get GPS that is always up to date. has Customer support, and all they are worried about is the actual program since its running on my phone or tablet. has current, working traffic, Maps are up to date, Almost daily, and works.
