I do thank you for the kind words my friend.
Yeah my story is not at all unique. There were alot of drivers where I was at going thru it too. Losing their houses, etc.. etc.. etc.. The problem was that the company just kept hiring more drivers.
The smallest group of drivers they brought in the entire time I was there( 8 months) , was 40 for the first class that week then they had 60 for the back part of the week. My dm kept saying there wasn't enough freight but please let's keep HIRING drivers!! That one really made sense to me.:biggrin_25512:
I tried everything to get better miles, calling customers, going to ops managers, and yes even begging with them. Nothing worked. I had to go because my humor was used up, I started thinking how fun it would be to drive my truck thru their buildings at the terminals.
But I just keep on trying had three rejections today maybe tommorrow something will break, I sure hope hope so.
I had to sell off two of my three guitars just to buy some groceries, gas and pay some of the cell bill. life in the big city. Everything happens for a reason, I guess I just haven't been humbled by the blows life has hit me with over the past 8 years.
But all in all we are survivors and will get thru it, we have been in worse shape before, I spent 6-8 months relearning to walk without a cane and my wife got hurt fixing a hole in the roof from hurricane damage. No money no health that was bad 6 years ago. We got thru it then we'll get thru it now.:yes2557:

Really? I've got a bad wheel and can't get it replaced, lol, just kidding. I know what you're saying but personally, if I'm down to making $250 a week, I've got nothing to lose, hehe, I'd harass the crap out of them. :biggrin_25525:

    AMEN TO THAT !!
Why oh why do these companies just keep hiring guys, well aware of the fact that so many of their drivers are sitting? This is where the problem is, the economy, the time of year, and the fact that they won't quit hiring drivers. (drivers they don't need)
And for the OP, the first year for me was the worst, I learned alot about patience.

i would prefer if you cannot post something constructive to the basis of the thread, then just save your energy.

lose the attitude? please....dont give me any, and i wont give it back...hows that?

I respect veteran drivers....that is till they make sure they let everyone know where they stand in the pecking order. I really could care less, but when you have to do that, you lose any respect i had for ya.

As far as the other poster saying i dont have to kiss butt, but i should be friends with them....I figured that out after my 3rd week when i sat in Memphis for 3 days. I kept from using the QC as much as i did before, and whenever my DM did anything for me, like fixing a MT or L-call that wouldnt go thru, i would send back a 'Thanx'. i dont try to make enemies with anybody, but the instant someone tries to 'show me' they are better than me, when they dont even know me......that i've got problems with.

ill keep the 'tude in check, as long as you do, aftershock. please, post something constructive, or your OPINION about the basis of the thread in general. want to point out where i might just be wrong......fine...but have something called TACT. try to hijack the thread or troll again, and i'll report it, and probably see it get removed.

Are you one of those who only hears what they wanna hear and disregards the rest? :banghead:
:smt071Shoot the messenger and ignore the message?

There's a big difference betwixt your bad attitude and my
    good attitude.
    How's that?

As a newBee, you ARE at the bottom of the "pecking order".
    Nothing new about that.

Even experienced and well seasoned Big truck truck drivers have been there. What separates the men from the boys is how they ACCEPT that, deal with it and GET OVER it.
    There's that bad attitude.
The TRUTH is --- you SHOULD care. :yes2557:
Then YOU need to understand that the door swings BOTH ways.
Without the respect from others, you won't go very far. :biggrin_25512:
    Fact! :yes2557:

Perhaps you're taking their advice the wrong way?

One can learn a LOT just by reading.
And if one has a chip on their shoulder, it comes through loud and clear.
    Even in written form.
    Fact. :yes2557:

In that case, I recommend that you exchange your bad attitude for a better attitude.
    :banghead: GooD GrieF!
:director2::director:~~~~ CaN YoU Hear me NoW?!
I do, in fact, have "TACT".
Your threats cause me to shake in my drivin' boots.
    That's possible.
It's also possible that you'd be removed.
I say 'go for it' --- report me.
Always nice to get the moderator's opinions.
Tell you what ---- if YOU don't report this post ---
    I WILL.
    Fair enough?

    Lilbit and Tankergirl80 Thank this.

But anyways, not even worth a reply....back on topic....

I got a load that picked up last night (01/07) in Pueblo, CO., and delivered at midnight on the 9th. Just as i get to the shipper (around 8p....so i know i am dealing with after hours dispatch) i get a message saying my scheduled drop is moved back to 01/10 at midnight. I was headed to Lawton, OK, and it only is a day drive. I just ignored that message, and planned to drop early anyways. my DM sends a message en route today asking about my ETA. i told him, and he said he would contact the CSR and see about dropping early. I sent a message back saying i planned on trying to drop early anyways, but glad we were all on the same page. I drop, then within 5 minutes of doing my MT call, i get a preplan. THAT WENT PERFECTLY !!! (as it should anyway) It is a load from Amarillo to somewhere in Indiana. I was licking my chops because it was a 1000+ mile run. picked up 01/09 and delivered on the 12th. I accepted the plan, and after that i get a message saying 'it is a hot, JIT load...dont accept if you cannot pick up and deliver on time. I was like, what?? a 1000+ run in 4 days, i could deliver that in 3 days MAX. Before i can get stopped 15 minutes away to start my 10 hr rest....it gets removed from me. What do i get in return?? a piddley 100 mile run. WTF !!!!!!!
Going to ask my DM in the morning about why the load to Indiana was removed from me, and it had better be a good enough reason. If not, then i cant do anything but think that someone in after hours dispatch is just F--kin with me. :biggrin_25510::biggrin_25516:

If the attitude you display here is anything like the attitude
    you give your DM ----
I'd say you're probably correct in your assessment
of what they're doin' to you.

    And here's the kicker ----
It's probably too late to change the attitude and lack of respect they
    have for you.
Burned bridges take time to rebuild, if they're EVER rebuilt.
Call it 'Human Nature' --- that's just the way it works.

Do Unto Others As You Would Have Them Do Unto You.
    And
    Reap What You Sow.

hears how i look at things. ur dm is spoused to manage u. witch means he keeps in contact with u about getting to the pu and the del on time.

if u want to make money in trucking take the bull by the horn and pave ur own path to success.

witch means always calling the pu or del to see if they can take u early. communicate that with ur dm. don't bother calling ur dm if u haven't called the customer first.

so when u pu or del early then u are available for the next load. even if it don't work out u still have to try. if u cant del early. still run ahead and then when u get close to the del message ur dm early in the morning and let them know so they can look for a drop yard or another driver that needs a restart.

thats why trip planning is so important. it allows u to run ahead, be safe and be on time.
