Nope, I'm thinking it's more like I'll get to learn a dispatchers job...or fail miserably.

I'm in the middle of my second lease and my first automatic. At first I did not like it at all. Seemed I had a better "feel" for the road with the manual. However I've come to prefer the auto hand-down. It's a knee saver in rush hour too.

As for mileage.....meh, I get about the same as when I had my manual. I've always gotten good fuel mileage so no big change for me. The only thing I can think of for mileage with the auto is to really learn to take it easy on the acceleration when taking off from a stand still. That's all I have on that.

On an off point, the SFI lease can work. However at the end of my current lease, or maybe even buying out my last year, I'll be getting my next truck from a dealer. Was all ready to pull the trigger but house had to come first so into another lease. If anyone can save up the down (try $200/wk into mmc) getting your truck from a dealer, lease or buy, is much, much better financially most times.

    Anyway hope that helps.

    kanidana Thanks this.

Also, try establishing a relationship with a local bank. I'm trading out my '09 Cascadia for a '14 at Selectrucks in Atlanta. I have a very good credit score and 5 years of owning / leasing a truck. However, the best Damlier Finance could come up with was 15.9%.......whereas my local bank said 'sure' at 5.6%. It pays to take your time, ask questions, and look around

What's the policy on deadheading with an mt? I heard that you can get fined but I don't remember the details. I'm only asking because reading an experience from another person from Phoenix, he claimed he had to dh to El Paso to get loads going east because the loads going to LA paid 70 cents a mile. Starting orientation Monday not looking forward to a long day including the physical and prework screening.

You can probably say that about any question I've ever asked on this forum. :)
