I have a difficult time imagining someone driving a commercial vehicle with a revoked drivers license. That demonstrates a complete lack of respect for safety or authority. It also makes it nearly impossible to defend him in court.

The article does not say when the revocation of the license was.

It is very possible to have a license and not know that the local ordinance concerning a parking ticket on a car and the ticket not paid. This can happen if they owned the car and someone else drove it.

Just an example of how it could happen. Not supporting or defending the driver here.

I got pulled into the "Super-Coups" near Boise one year. The DOT said my license had been "suspended" for over 1 1/2 years, even though the date on my license was less than 8 months old. They suspected there was something wrong with their information and let me "continue" on my way.
As it turns out, my license HAD been suspended over a ticket I PAID, but the Court (that ordered the suspension) didn't "report" it for almost 1 1/2 years.
It almost took an act of congress (with the help of Michigan State Rep Vern Ehilers) to get the suspension over-turned.

That happened to my brother at the weigh station on I84 east of troutdale oregon, an old ticket was paid but the court didnt post it paid,, he had to have another driver go get him and his truck and bring him home, the motor vehicle dept said it showed paid but he had to pay it again just to get his license back so he could still drive,, thats the state of oregon for you.

It's tragic, anyway you look at it.

I won't argue the facts that others have.

But I will argue that until you've watched your child go hungry. NEVER say never.

While this one might be a total lack of regard for law enforcement and safety.

You can't always assume a desperate person will adhere to laws (traffic) that force him to break other laws (child care).

You can use the term "responsible adult" all you want. But circumstances get in the way, sometimes.

Many people will argue if he hadn't been there, this wouldn't have happened. Most of those same people will also tell you, when God says it's your time...you're going.

At most, he'll get 5 years. More than likely, he will get probation and a huge fine.
