Is wiring a power inverter to the truck batteries hard? If I'm a company driver, is it something that I should have done by one of the company's mechanics or can I do it myself?

If you're a company driver, you'll have to see what their policy is. Some companies don't allow them at all. IF they do allow them, a lot of companies require that their mechanics install them.

It would be advised to install a fuse as close to the Bat as you can. That way if the wire comes undone and grounds out, you don't have a fire.

In a lot of company trucks I've driven, a fire wouldn't be a bad thing!

An in-line circuit breaker within 12" of the battery would be better than a fuse.

    Wiseguywireless Thanks this.

Personally unless your rich and can:

    1) Afford to pay for the replacement of the truck/trailer/load
    2) Afford to be put out of work because of your desire to put in a inverter that you have no business doing.
    3) Pay for the fire department to come out and put out the fire, when they could be doing something more useful ( like getting a kitty out of a tree)
    4) Willing to work for the rest of your life, (that's only if your not RICH) as a Wal-Mart greeter just to pay off what you destroyed.

Then don't, let a professional do it for you..

All right no sense in getting paranoid. You're not wiring it into "the electrical system" like people think. You run the hot STRAIGHT from a battery to the inverter through a drilled hole in the cab and ground the inverter inside the cab. No other wiring is touched. You're not gonna blow out your headlights and cruise control or some other such nonsense.
