I held off as long as I could before changing to the CDL, Hung onto the chauffeur's license as long as I could, but, alas, in April of... '92, I think it was, I was told I wasn't getting dispatched until it was done.

the thing about being a newbie is we r new to the industry. and the senior drivers have more experience.

it's like the school i went to said. grow thick skin. if u cant then this might not be for u.

Yep that's good advice... grow thick skin. Hey the old timers are not all bad, show a little respect for the guy hanging in so long, and don't act like ya know it all. I don't mind helping out a new guy a long as he is willing to learn. I don't know it all by far, I still learn and some times it is from a nubie. The losers are every where, just keep an open mind...

The biggest issue with newbies isn't the schools; it's the "trainer" who only has a few years experience, who learned from a "trainer" with only a few years..., who learned....

We have a whole generation of drivers who have never had an old hand around to give 'em pointers. Little stuff, like:

"Yes, your trailer's in the right place to back in that hole, but it doesn't matter cause your truck's pointed the wrong way!"

    Or:

"Yes, you can turn that tight, but only do it as a last resort. It's hard on tires, sliders, and alignment..."

    And on and on...

Oh, BTW, did any of you worms ever find that "skyhook?" LOL

I appreciate all the help and advice I get. I get to hear about how slow I am on the cb, but I don't care about that. But when it comes to backing......I am all ears. In anything you do you can learn something new everyday.
